In August this year, Meryl Dorey, President of the Australian Vaccination Network (AVN), had arranged for a seminar on vaccination to be held in South Australia. Originally it was to be held at a school, but the venue arrangement was cancelled by the school after they received complaints from concerned individuals questioning why they were giving support to a conspiracy group such as the AVN.
An alternative venue was found for this seminar at St Marks Lutheran Church, Mt Barker. The same concerned individuals contacted St Marks with the same information, and also advising them that the nature of the AVN went against official Lutheran Church policy. Below is the email I sent to St Marks:
Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: Seminar 19 August 2009 - Australian Vaccination Network
St Mark's Lutheran Church, Mt Barker
It has come to my attention that the above seminar is now being held
at the St Mark's Lutheran Church, Mt Barker, SA after the original host,
the Mt Barker Waldorf School, decided that it was not appropriate for the
school to be associated with the above seminar.
I would like to bring to your attention what the Australian
Vaccination Network is about, citing evidence from their own
discussion forums and seminars. In contrast to their misleading
name, the Australian Vaccination Network, the AVN, is an outspoken
anti-vaccination group that subscribes to various conspiracy
theories.
Their anti-vaccination stance is quite disturbing. The president,
Meryl Dorey, describes vaccines as "instruments of death", and
cites the recent measles epidemic and swine flu pandemic as being
deliberately manufactured. Further to that, she presents articles
outlining that the swine flu vaccine is a conspiracy to infect the
global population with mind-control nanobots to inflict genocide at
a later date. This article was originally written by the well-known
conspiracy theorist, David Icke, and the article goes on to mention
the illuminati, reptilian overlords and the like.
(original article: http://www.davidicke.com/content/view/25191)
In addition, Meryl Dorey and the AVN also support AIDS denialism, as
can be evidenced here http://www.aras.ab.ca/rethinkers.php
The doubters on this page do not believe that HIV causes AIDS, that
AIDS medicines extend life, that AIDS is heterosexually transmitted,
or that HIV and AIDS are decimating Africa and Asia. I note that this
stance is in direct conflict with the following Lutheran Church policy
http://www.lca.org.au/resources/csbq/hivaids1.pdf
At present the AVN and Meryl Dorey are under investigation by the
Health Care Complaints Commission after a complaint was lodged
that the AVN is a threat to public health.
I ask that your church review its decision to allow a destructive
conspiracy theory group such as the AVN use of your facilities, or
to be associated with your organisation.
Yours Sincerely,
Christine Bayne.
I cannot speak for others but I personally never received a response from St Marks in regard to this matter. The seminar went ahead, and I considered the matter closed.

date Fri, Oct 16, 2009 at 11:07 AMI’m a qualified pharmacist. I’ve been researching the swine flu vaccine that our government has bought for us (using our money, by the way) and it’s DANGEROUS AS. It’s easy a hundred times more dangerous than the swine flu itself.
Something that freaked me out is that several swine flu vaccine manufacturers have asked governments to give them an exemption from lawsuits, in case the vaccine caused harm in people. If you made a vaccine that you knew worked, then why would you need a legal exemption in case it hurt people? Massive warning sign – they don’t believe its safe!
The swine flu itself has killed about 2/3000 people total. The regular flu kills 40 000 plus per year – so why are we freaking out about swine flu, and not normal flu? Does that make sense? No!
If the regular flu kills 40 000 plus per year, and the swine flu only killed 2/3 000 – then why are governments buying it in advance, giving it to us for free, and giving drug manufacturers immunity to legal cases against them? Does that make sense? No!
The swine flu vaccine contains 2 horribly dangerous compounds – one is called thimerosol. It is made 50% of mercury. It binds to receptors in your brain, and basically causes brain damage. Is it smart to be injected with thimerosol, and get brain damage, dropping 10 IQ points and going dumb, in order to avoid getting a flu that kills 95% less people than regular flu? No!
The other horrible ingredient is called squalene. Squalene accidentally tricks your immune system into killing your own cells, which creates auto-immune diseases like asthma, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and a bunch of diseases that we don’t have a name for yet (because squalene hasn’t been used for that long, and we have little data on its effects) – is is smart to inject yourself with that stuff, in order to avoid a relatively mild flu, like the swine flu? No!
If you’re a pregnant mother about to take Panvax, ask yourself this – why would you take Panvax, when it contains Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfate – both of which exhibit positive risk to unborn children – so as to avoid what? A mild flu, that kills 95% fewer people than the regular flu?
Look, I’m a funny guy. Yeah, I make good Facebook groups. People join them by the thousands, and laugh. But I’m also a qualified pharmacist. I scored in the top 0.1% of my state in school. I’m an expert at critical analysis of drugs and their effects on humans. And let me be blunt – if someone came up to me with a syringe full of swine flu vaccine, or came near my family with one – I would take the needle off them and poke them with it myself – followed by several very hard punches.
This stuff is poison. Don’t take it. Don’t let your friends take it. Don’t let your family take it. If some idiot in a lab coat asks you if you want it, ask them about thimerosol, squalene, and why the company making it wants legal exemption from being sued, and watch their face go into “Oh, my God! I’m being asked serious questions that I don’t have the answer to” mode.
Anyway. I hope you’re all well. Chat to you on Facebook sometime…
Sincerely,
George Mamouzellos

Yes, James spammed everyone who voiced concerns about the Australian Vaccination Network seminar to St Marks Church with the viral Chemmie George email (this is the same George who is now under investigation by pharmacy boards in two states).
I sent the following email to James on 20 October 2009:
Hi James,
Where did you get my email address from?
cheers
…and after not receiving a response, I emailed him again on 21 October 2009:
Hi James,
I really must insist on an answer to my earlier request - where did
you obtain my email address?
I finally received a response on 26 October 2009. Below are the email exchanges that took place that day.

subject RE: your e-mail addressHi Christine,
I obtained your e-mail address from my pastor, whom you sent an e-mail to in protest about our church allowing a community group to use our facilities for an AVN meeting. I do apologise that I may have confused you, as I was sent the letter below by another staff at this school and I wanted your response, but I did not add my own name. I also sent it to other people who e-mailed our church, I assumed were also part of your anti AVN group. Some have been rather rude in their response, Dave Singer however has been very helpful in giving me some research that he has done in regards this issue.
It turned out to be a good way to get reactions from people who do not know me, but they certainly do have a hidden agenda and aggressiveness in their response. May be you could pass that on to your supporters?
James
No, James, I will not be passing anything on, and I did not email you to invite an exchange. I simply asked where you obtained my email address. My response:

Hi James,
May I ask why your pastor gave out my email address to you?
I am not interested in other people's responses to your spam, and I
can understand why they are angry that their privacy was violated for
the purpose of receiving spam containing conspiracy theory nonsense.
Your pastor 'giving' out my email address, and your subsequent abuse
of it, is in breach of SA Gov's acceptable use policy, and my
complaint will be lodged with the Education Department and SA Gov
immediately.
thank you
Christine Bayne.
Pretty straightforward response, I thought. All I ever wanted was to track down where he obtained my address. Simple question? Turns out NOT…

subject your e-mail addressHey Christine, you too sound angry about receiving my e-mail.
My pastor sent me your e-mail because you instructed him to in your statement ” I ask that your church review its decision to allow a destructive conspiracy theory group such as the AVN use of your facilities, or to be associated with your organisation.” Part of that review of the decision involved me. How are you feeling now?
You are very quick to make judgement and condemn. When you engage a community group, who likes to listen, and try to push your own beliefs and interpretations onto other ‘community groups’ you are asking to be engaged in dialogue. Your response indicates something more like telling me to sit down and shutup, because the only person of value and worth having anything to say is you! And Yes I can see you are ‘not interested in other people’s responses’ to what you have to say. I am pleased to see that the Courier did not publish your polite letter, because underneath you are something different when approached out of your context. It seems to me that you are part of a group of people who are very aggressive. Your response has certainly put fear into my mind.
What is your definition of Spam? I sent my e-mail directly to you, just as you sent your e-mail to our church. So if you can complain about receiving an e-mail from me then I must be able to complain about you sending an e-mail to our church, for which I am a member. You dear Christine initiated the contact but I do regret trying to engage in conversation. I apologise for responding to your cause.
May God bless your day,
James
So, I put fear into his mind. Pushing his ideology blinds him to the fact that he is abusing government policy, in breach of privacy regulations, because his cause is more important than all of that.
There we have it. The pastor of St Marks Lutheran Church and School (Peter Hage), and staff, are full-blown conspiracy antivaxxers.
How they are coming out of the woodwork now. And yes, I will be submitting a complaint to the South Australian government about their resources being used to spread deadly propaganda. This nonsense has to stop.
