Quick summary of AVN misinformation & conspiracies
One of the major aims of this site is to highlight why the Australian Vaccination Network (AVN) and Meryl Dorey are unreliable and untrustworthy sources on all matters relating to health, medicine, vaccination, and science.
I have provided many examples of this in previous posts, but to make it easier for people to see at a glance what they represent, I have summarised the major points here.
Crackpots
as labelled by former Federal Health Minister, Dr Michael Wooldridge:

Conspiracists

H1N1 (Swine Flu) epidemic
“So, is there, is there an outbreak of swine flu? I don’t know. The medical community doesn’t know. The governments don’t know. This is a manufactured outbreak, I have no fear in saying that.”

On two separate occasions, on official AVN internet forums, Meryl Dorey linked to a reproduction of the infamous David Icke article that claimed that the H1N1 epidemic was engineered for the purpose of mass genocide via microchips implanted in the H1N1 vaccine. On numerous occasions Meryl has publically denied that she did so, or believes what the article contains. I ask you to note the evidence that she did link to this article (still available on her twitter and blog feed) and she had this to say about the article on her blog:
“The word ‘evil’ is much overused and I don’t say it lightly; but we are dealing with evil in the sense that the word is the reverse of ‘live’. Those behind the conspiracy to cull the human population and turn the rest into little more than computer terminals are anti-life.”
Yes, Meryl read it, understood it, and believes it.
“Most of you would be aware that the current ’swine’ flu epidemic began in Mexico City, not far from the lab where Baxter Pharmaceuticals was working on the experimental bird flu vaccine. That was interesting to say the least.
What I have just discovered however, is that the only WHO facility in the southern hemisphere that is involved with flu vaccine research is in Melbourne – the part of Australia where the largest number of swine flu cases has been reported. This in the country that is also creating the world’s first ’swine’ flu vaccine and has the most number of cases in this area of the world.

Does anyone know of an organisation doing work on the ground there helping without vaccines? HIV/AIDS denialism
Meryl Dorey, representing the AVN, signed a petition that states the following:
“THE HIV-AIDS THEORY: A set of assumptions held by the worldwide Hiv-Aids establishment in the absence of any scientific proof:
• That Hiv causes Aids
• That Hiv tests accurately diagnose Hiv
• That Aids medicines extend life
• That Aids is heterosexually transmitted
• That Hiv and Aids are decimating Africa and Asia
Much evidence contradicts all of these assumptions. But powerful, drug industry-funded Aids scientists have staked their reputations and credibility (and bank accounts) on these beliefs, so they defend them like religious zealots – with the help of a propagandistic media, awash in drug company advertising revenues, and an equally dishonest NGO sector, made rich by huge drug industry contributions.
